Early in the first quarter, URAC fielded our employee pulse check survey. Participation was nearly 70 percent, which is impressive, given that it has been a number of years since we surveyed staff. A few weeks after we compiled the responses of the pulse check, the results were shared at an all-staff meeting. But that was just the beginning.

Simon Sinek, the author of Great Leaders Start with Why, surmises that very few people and very few organizations can clearly articulate: Why they do what they do. Why is a purpose, a cause or a belief. It provides a clear answer to the questions, “Why do you get out of bed every morning?” “Why does your organization exist?” and “Why should that matter to anyone else?.”

Congressional Efforts to Reform the Affordable Care Act Stall

On Friday, March 24th, Republican leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives were forced to pull their legislation reforming the Affordable Care Act just minutes before the full House was to vote on the measure. Despite weeks of negotiation between President Trump, Republican leaders, and recalcitrant Republican House members on the details of their reform bill, known as the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the measure failed to receive the votes need to pass and the bill was pulled prior to a vote.
