The Monthly Review spotlights a different URACer each month in a Q&A. This month it's Troy Reese, Pharm.D., who has been with URAC as a pharmacy reviewer for almost two years.

TMR: When did you start at URAC and what brought you here?

Troy Reese: Started with URAC in September 2016. I was introduced to URAC from another recent hire (Mark Snapp) with whom I worked with at my previous job.

TMR: What were you doing before you came to URAC?

Troy Reese: I worked for Xerox (through multiple acquisitions). During my time there, I worked in the Audit and Compliance division and in Account Management. As an Account Manager, I worked with various State Medicaid agencies (HI, NM, IN) ensuring contractual agreements were fulfilled, working with their P&T Committees and DUR Boards, and reporting functions.

TMR: Describe yourself in three words.

Troy Reese: Friendly, considerate, funny.

TMR: How do you like to spend your leisure time?

Troy Reese: I love playing and watching tennis (Vamos Rafa!!), watching soccer (Go Man City!!!), playing video games, and traveling.

TMR: What’s your favorite restaurant?

Troy Reese: Favorite restaurant is Ciutat Comtal (or Ciudad Condal in Spanish) in Barcelona. Love it because: 1) it is in Barcelona, 2) the tapas are fantastic, 3) great atmosphere for hanging with friends.

TMR: What do you like to watch (movies, tv shows)?

Troy Reese: Mostly like comedies and sci-fi. Love the Marvel movies. And will watch the first Airplane! movie and Young Frankenstein whenever I see it playing.

TMR: What kind of books do you like to read?

When I read (outside of Policies and Procedures), I prefer sci-fi and horror. But To Kill a Mockingbird still remains my favorite book.

TMR: What's your favorite vacation spot and what did you do when you last go there?

Troy Reese: My favorite place to vacation is Spain. Can’t really say why, I just love being there, enjoying the energy and vibe. Mostly go to Barcelona and Torremolinos (beach town on the Costa del Sol).

TMR: Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Troy Reese: Like both cats and dogs. Cats are easier to have when you travel a lot for work. But I have a saltwater fish tank.

TMR: Tell us something about yourself that most people at URAC would not know about you.

Troy Reese: My fellow pharmacy reviewers already know, but I love curling (and most other Olympic sports). I made sure the pharmacy review team was up-to-date on the US Men’s Curling team during the last Olympics. I was watching at 1-something in the morning when they won the gold.
