The Monthly Review spotlights a different URACer each month in a Q&A. This month it's Rachel Kelly-Brown, who has been with URAC for 3 ½ months.

TMR: When did you start at URAC and what brought you here?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: I started with URAC on September 18, 2017.  I have always wanted to work for URAC. In my previous work experience, working in case management and utilization review, I had the opportunity to perform audits and prepare for a URAC accreditation. Since then, I wanted to work for an organization that promoted health care quality.

TMR: Describe yourself in three words.

Rachel Kelly-Brown: Diligent, persistent, and resilient.

TMR: Where did you grow up?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: I grew up in Jamaica, New York (Queens). Growing up in Queens shaped me to be the person I am now. I was surrounded by a culturally diverse environment both at home and in my neighborhood.

TMR: What’s your favorite restaurant?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: My favorite restaurant is The Mercer Kitchen. It’s a hip and happening restaurant in Soho, NY. It is located on 99 Prince St, New York, NY 10012. The chef is Jean-Georges Vongerichten and his dishes are very simple but flavorful. Whenever I travel to NY, I make sure to stay in Soho.

TMR: What as the last movie you saw?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: The last movie I saw was on January 30, 2017, The Darkest Hour. I am a fan of historical movies. Gary Oldman did a great job portraying Winston Churchill.

TMR: What book do you currently have on your nightstand?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: I am currently reading the book from Michael Wolff, Fire and Fury. I am presently on Chapter 2 and it is already a juicy read.

TMR: Where did you go on your last vacation?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: Our family went to Turks and Caicos in August of last year. Family Photo_Spotlight Q and A_Rachel Kelly-Brown_January 2018 Issue.jpg

TMR: Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: I am a cat person. The latest addition to our family is Aggie, a Tabby- American shorthair. She is great company to myself and my husband since we are now empty nesters.

TMR: Is there anything else that you would like us to know about you?

Rachel Kelly-Brown: I am currently pursuing my Doctoral degree in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of South Alabama.
