The Monthly Review spotlights a different URACer each month in a Q&A. This month it's Carole Lambert, URAC's Compliance Risk Manager.

TMR: When did you start at URAC and what brought you here?

Carole: I started at URAC in July. I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to be part of URAC’s work, protecting consumers through the accreditation and certification processes.

TMR: What were you doing before you came to URAC?

Carole: I designed, developed and implemented strategic education on risk management, quality and compliance for physician organizations and healthcare entities of all sizes.

TMR: Describe yourself in three words.clambert

Carole: Focused, flexible, friendly.

TMR: How do you like to spend your leisure time?

Carole: Books, needlework, food, and watching tennis and football.

TMR: What’s your favorite restaurant?

Carole: My current favorite is Al Dente – it is Italian food at its best. I’m looking for a steakhouse in Washington that’s as good as Nick & Stef’s in New York.

TMR: What do you like to watch?

Carole: For a favorite movie I would have to say – along with lots of other people – Casablanca. TV is harder; aside from sports probably NCIS.

TMR: What kind of books do you like to read?

Carole: I really enjoy Laurie King’s books about Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. The last one is set in Venice and you can almost smell the canals.

TMR: What's your favorite vacation spot?

Carole: There are two: the Ojai Valley north of Los Angeles which is so beautiful it’s unreal; the annual music festival is always interesting. The north fork of Long Island which is so beautiful in a completely different way is also a favorite for its profound peace and quiet.

TMR: Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Carole: Both, with dogs having the edge.

TMR: Tell us something about yourself that most people at URAC would not know about you.

Carole: I’ve sung with choruses at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
