We are off to a huge start this year – new programs, a new space and new clients to serve! Many of you heard about the exciting changes we have been working on as 2019 ended and the launch of our newest programs to kick off January. The press release for the CHQI deal is planned for January 6th, so this will already be in the news by the time you read this. This program acquisition is about looking for more ways URAC can improve the quality of care for people around the nation. The joining of the two largest telemedicine accreditors will give providers unequaled clarity on how best to take care of people using the technology of video visits and remote patient monitoring options. We will be combining our telemedicine programs and rolling out the remote patient monitoring to a broader audience throughout the month of January.

The Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Accreditation Program and ParityManager™ software that we have purchased is unique in the market. This program and toolset offer one of the first methods for ensuring people receive the mental health care that they need in an equal manner to the physical health benefits we all know. This parity has been required by law for several years but has proven to be challenging for payers and providers to demonstrate until this accreditation was created. The toolset is currently being used by the state of Maryland as part of a pilot program and will be very important across the country if proven successful there.

Our new space in DC is almost ready for the move. I’m looking forward to having everyone in DC in the same area so we can work together better and enjoy having all new stuff. I appreciate the staff committees that have made design contributions to make the space our own.

No matter how you look at it, URAC is ready for another great year! As I approach my one year anniversary, thank you for all the work you do to help improve care for our families and loved ones
