We're excited to announce that FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr will deliver the first keynote at the Telemed Leadership Forum 2019. The second keynote will be Laura McWright, deputy director of the Seamless Care Models Group, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Last year, Commissioner Carr unveiled a proposal, which was unanimously approved by the FCC, for the $100 million Connected Care Pilot Program to support telehealth for low-income Americans, particularly veterans and those in rural areas. Here's a link to an August 2018 FCC press release.
With these two keynote speakers, and a great line up of high-level experts from healthcare organizations, we anticipate this year's event to be huge success. You can see the agenda so far here: https://telemed.org/.
This event is designed to be highly interactive in a more intimate setting, with attendees experiencing all sessions and panel discussions together. We'll have a mix of moderators for the panel discussions, including Adam Darkins, MD, CEO of Empiricon, Ralph Derrickson, former CEO of Carena, and Patrick McCarthy, director of telehealth services, Northwell Health. Speakers include:
- Michael Adcock, Executive Director, Center for Telehealth, University of Mississippi Medical Center
- Ralph Derrickson, former CEO, Carena, Managing Director, RCollins Group, Board Member, Perficient
- Martin Doerfler, MD, SVP, Clinical Strategy and Development, Associate Chief Medical Officer, Northwell Health

Here's to hoping that the Federal Government shutdown has ended well before our April 3-5 event! If not, we'll be doing some re-arranging of the agenda to replace the first two keynotes.
