Heather Bonome, PharmD

Heather Bonome, PharmD, URAC's director of pharmacy, is responsible for the development and management of the Pharmacy Quality Management® accreditation programs. She oversees the volunteer pharmacy advisory group and manages the team of URAC pharmacist reviewers. Prior to URAC, Bonome worked in the pharmacy benefit management field for nearly 15 years, partnering with clients to develop sound clinical strategies and promote appropriate pharmaceutical utilization. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed a post-graduate pharmacy residency in managed care.

In 2019, three Pharmacy Accreditation Reviewers pursued and achieved significant certifications. Dan Bramy and Heather Valiton are now “Certified Specialty Pharmacists.” This certification, offered by the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), is the only certification specifically designed to validate professional experience and expertise in Specialty Pharmacy.

There is a lot a stake when it comes to proper cold chain management of medications. (Cold chain refers to the management of temperature-sensitive products as they move through the supply chain from the manufacturer to the end user, the patient.)
