The last month has seen a somewhat dizzying amount of healthcare-related policy activity at both the federal and state levels. There have been a number of issues that may have a direct impact on URAC or a direct impact on the customers (and ultimately the consumers) we serve.

On Friday, March 24^th, Republican leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives were forced to pull their legislation reforming the Affordable Care Act just minutes before the full House was to vote on the measure. Despite weeks of negotiation between President Trump, Republican leaders, and recalcitrant Republican House members on the details of their reform bill, known as the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the measure failed to receive the votes need to pass and the bill was pulled prior to a vote.

On February 15th, representing URAC, I testified before the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ Labor and Industry Committee on the potential impact accreditation could have on reducing the variability among the state's utilization review organizations (UROs). 

 President Trump and his allies in Congress have committed to repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As these reform efforts may have broad implications on the American healthcare delivery system, I wanted to inform you of URAC’s position and encourage you to participate in the learning process.
